The Andes

After leaving Quito, heading south on the Panamericana highway, you can see several volcanoes, among which, the Cotopaxi, which is the most impressive and important in the Andean landscape.

This is the highest volcano in the world, which is 5,897 metres high. You can enter the National Park Cotopaxi by the south face until you reach Limpiopungo at 3,800 metres, where we will take a short trip to see birds and wild horses that live in this area.

Then, we will continue until the parking area (at 4,500 metres above sea level) where a hike of approximately 45 minutes begins. This hike will reach the José Ribas refuge at 4,800 metres above sea level. From there you can enjoy the scenery; where sometimes, on a clear day, Quito can be spotted through one of the valleys.

Return to Quito.
